I wouldn't say it was so great as all the rave reviews on RottenTomatoes claimed, but I also don't understand why many online film buffs were so negative to it either. I thought it was a fun action-adventure with entertaining voice performances (Idris Elba, Christopher Walken and Bill Murray being my favorites). I actually preferred this over the 1967 version.
One thing I also liked about this version is how they incorporated more elements of Kipling's novel: Mowgli's wolf family (who were barely in the 1967 film), the buffalo stampede, the elephants being noble figures and the monkey tribe being more villainous.
7.5/10
