Glad to hear that you're okay, WKM. mr sunshine's half-sister lives in Panama City with her family. They evacuated and are okay. They've seen an aerial view of their house and it's still standing, but they don't know if there's any damage. They can't go back home yet, since there's no power, no water and no gas to get there. I can't imagine the work that it will take to get everything back to normal, if it ever will. Sunshine: I was in no danger, I'm in Alabama, in a suburb of Mobile. Thanks for the thoughts. We still don't know if the lady we knew made it or not. She was going to ride it out in her tiny apartment ( Seaside Apartments on Front Beach Rd) which was built in 1960 so it wasn't up to code. The Seaside Apartments were efficiency apartments right across the road from the beach so I'm sure it was wiped out. I hope she decided to evacuate in the end, time will tell. I imagine many people who stayed were washed out to sea. This hurricane gained strength so fast that by the time people realized how powerful it was, they did not have time to plan their evacuation. The homes that are still standing are the ones that were newer and built to code. Our house is built to withstand 160 mph winds, it was built in 2006 - 2007. I feel bad for all those people and all the little animals that lost their lives and homes.
