Errrrr! Common sense. If you are rating something out of ten, simple logic should dictate when you divide into 2.
Even if you don't like it, and that is your personal prerogative, your hate for it appears unfounded or even unreasonable, especially if you are a film buff\connoisseur. Like I mentioned earlier, as far as groundbreaking horror films go from the 70's and in the context and quality of the finished product, I could understand an average rating some may give the film, like a 5\10, but to give it 1\2 a star doesn't make much sense to me in overall context of what the film depicts, represents and the manner in that it was rendered. I know you are not a casual viewer and like dissecting film.
1) I know how to do the conversion... but there was no reason for you to change it. Obviously the first thing that comes to mind is that you misread my post (it happens a lot in forums).
2) Unfounded? I gave a lot of reasons. Wait. Are you saying that just because it's a classic?
