Errrrr! Common sense. If you are rating something out of ten, simple logic should dictate when you divide into 2.
Even if you don't like it, and that is your personal prerogative, your hate for it appears unfounded or even unreasonable, especially if you are a film buff\connoisseur. Like I mentioned earlier, as far as groundbreaking horror films go from the 70's and in the context and quality of the finished product, I could understand an average rating some may give the film, like a 5\10, but to give it 1\2 a star doesn't make much sense to me in overall context of what the film depicts, represents and the manner in that it was rendered. I know you are not a casual viewer and like dissecting film.
1) I know how to do the conversion... but there was no reason for you to change it. Obviously the first thing that comes to mind is that you misread my post (it happens a lot in forums). 2) Unfounded? I gave a lot of reasons. Wait. Are you saying that just because it's a classic? I've been on numerous film and tv sets and I've NEVER seen anyone look so pleased to be holding a clapboard. I'm pasisonate about film, so what? Also, people are supposed to smile when posing for a photo. he gives Jaws The Revenge a 1\10, which by all accounts is likely deserved, but how can a classic horror film like Dawn Of The Dead, be in the same basket as JTR? He even gives Blade a 6. Those movies are very different than D.O.T.D. I judged them using different standards. I think perhaps your standards may be a little askew.
A lot of people on here are passionate about film, but if the reasoning or common sense regarding whatever your standards are don't make much sense, then those standards might not be perceived as more than a pinch of salt.
