The Longest Day is an oversight, as it would have been representative of the huge all star cast. The closest film in the list to the huge all star cast is Battle of the Bulge. Probably should have left off Bulge to put in the definitive huge all star cast war film.
Great Escape. Included the main POW film, at least the landmark one. Didn't think I needed more than one. If I did include a second, Hart's War would have given the list more diversity. Great Escape was more of a podium for big name stars, or at least it came across that way. It was tough to include.
Full Metal Jacket and Private Ryan, being modern war films, would be good picks. Not many people have seen Full Metal Jacket, although many on IMDB have. It's still pretty obscure. Private Ryan is a throwback to the old war films, and would be a good one to list, but there are none on the list that could be tossed out, due to keeping diversity on the list.
