Gaylord would be worse and perhaps more so for her brother. I say this as a gay guy as well. What if he was gay? Oh the irony! 
Even if he wasn't gay, he would still cop flack.
This is why I truly believe the term gay is inappropriate for a homosexual person. It has taken a word that literally has a meaning of carefree and happy—and that is not such a bad thing—but placed a societal stigma on it as well, due to bigotry, prejudice and ignorance. The so-called gay community has a lot to do with this as well, by telling others how they should identify.
I would just rather someone refer to me as homo, but then the straights tell us, who are not gay, that is derogatory, so what gives here?
