Just came back from seeing the movie Wildlife. Paul Dano and Jake Gyllenhaal were there to talk about it, it was a directorial debut for Dano, and Gyllenhaal co-produced and starred in it. Its a minimalistic indie drama, with some powerful acting, delivered beautifuly by Gyllenhal, Carey Mulligan, but above all this Australian teenage wonder, who I have been a big fan of - Ed Oxenbould. Mind my words, this kid, along with Timothee Chalamet and Lucas Hedges are going to get those Oscars sooner rather than later. Oxenbould carries the movie. If you enjoy slow burning family / coming of age drama, this one may be a good choice for you. 8/10 from me. Would have been more if they didn't make the big character leap in the first third. Maybe I just didnt understand something though. Possible. Dano said it took him years to come up with this movie, he wrote the script with his partner Zoe Kazan and it was somewhat a personal project for him. I can see that. Really beautifully acted, I must say. .
