I sincerely believe it is impossible to bridge the distance to even the nearest star outside of our solar system. I don't think there's a magic propulsion system that defies the laws of physics, and I don't think we can go into hypersleep for thousands of years. This is also the answer why no one's shown up on our doorstep, even though they had a huge head start in civilization building.
