If there was a sequel to the 1982 movie, this would be my teaser trailer.
It opens with MacReady waking up in a hospital bed--we see Ronald Reagan's face and other 80s paraphernalia to tell us it is the early 1980s.
He turns to the side and sees Childs in a bed next to him, looking back at him. In front of them is a separation curtain with the silhouette of a patient in another bed, attached to artificial breathing machinery.
A doctor comes in, says he and Childs are suffering from severe frostbite. They are also under arrest and being held in a military base in Antarctica on suspicion of multiple homicides at the research outpost. MacReady and Childs then notice they are handcuffed to their beds.
The doctor says it was a miracle any of you survived, especially the third survivor.
Childs and MacReady look to each other and the doctor and say at the same time: "what third survivor?"
The doctor, before departing the room, says: "the severely burned man behind the curtain."
They look to the curtain and see the body. Then hear the familiar breathing sound the thing makes as it starts to change. The body silhouette starts distorting while MacReady and Childs frantically attempt to remove their handcuffs and then drag their bed frames as far away as possible from the curtain.
