Not to rain on your parade (boom tish) - but SL cricket doesn’t really give a stuff about how much England fans spend in travelling to watch cricket when drawing up schedules. In fact, I don’t think a single entity anywhere in cricket bothers to think about away fans at all. I'm pretty sure the ECB have to ratify an itinerary for England to tour. Same for every other away country, no? Yes and No. The ICC oversees and enforces all tours everywhere - and for away tours the ECB can only offer “windows” when the team is available. From there, it’s a 3 way collaborative effort between the ECB, SL and the ICC. The ECB has a period whereby they “have” to tour SL at least once to play ODIs and Tests; SL has a period they “have” to host England etc etc. The only exceptions to this rule it seems is a) The IPL is sacrosanct and the ICC must move the schedule around it, and b) Australia must play home tests around Christmas and New Year, regardless of the opponent. (I’m sure South Africa or New Zealand would LOVE to host a test against Australia on Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.) Now, again, we are talking about the ICC, so rules and regulations are subject to change at any time, and their enforcement varies wildly between lax to strict.....
