Let's be honest here, no one who thinks that tight-fitting black leather outfits are the best superhero costumes can ever be taken seriously as a "long time marvel fan". 

As for your post, the only people who would consider the first X-men film as a deep and thought-provoking film would be kids and mentally challenged adults. Most normal adults would be way too intelligent to consider that movie thought-provoking or deep. So I guess we know which camp you fall under. 

Let's face it, X-men was every bit as shallow an action blockbuster as the Avengers. The main difference is that Avengers was a lot better.
