I'd like to see better stories.
And I'd like to see the passage of time within the story more clearly delineated.
You ever watch a movie and you feel like these major events in the lives of the characters just happened over the weekend? It doesn't feel realistic like a real amount of time has passed, like what might happen in real life.
Certainly sometimes the events playing out did just happen over the course of a day or two, but I recently watched a movie where the story took place over months, but it felt like it was just two or so days. Took me out of the reality of the story. In Field Of Dreams we see a montage of the seasons changing, including a Christmas moment, from the time the protagonist builds the field to the arrival of the ghostly baseball players. That's a good example.
