U.F.O.'s And The U.S. Government ??

Through the years, the U.S. government has done all they can to 'officially' deny the existence of any and all U.F.O.'s and/or alien life......even in those case where HUNDREDS of people have seen particular 'events' in the sky, that defy any and all logical explanations based on modern day life as we know it.

My question is........WHY ??

They can't REALLY believe we'd all run into the sea raving and shrieking in an attempt at mass suicide, were it to ever come to light that, yes, contrary to everything we've been told before, aliens are REAL......can they?

What would be your best guess as to just why the government seems determined to NEVER be able to admit that U.F.O.'s just might be real, and that we (i.e., human beings) just might not be the only kids kickin' around on the ol' (Universal) 'block' ??
