Someone who takes an intro Geo class in college, and thinks 'So all a geologist does is go camping and drink beer? I could do this for a living!'
Most geologists do very little "field work"... I got to do none in a 36 year career as one. Most of us went into this "field" of study thinking it would be different. I did some geologist work. Five of us went into a cave, but we had trouble. One geologist fell down into a deep crevice, and an avalanche killed him and another one. Then we were captured by mole men, who killed our oldest member. We found a tribe of people down there who lived on mushrooms and made slave of these mole men. We had a heck of a time getting out of that mess.
