It's the reverse for me. I really like Platoon, which I give an 8.5/10, but I didn't care much for Born on the Fourth of July.
I do admit Platoon has a couple of minor cons, but the pros outweigh them, like the great battle scene at the end, the way the unit was divided (much like America was at the time regarding the war) between those who were pro-Barnes and those who were pro-Elias, and I love the musical score of the movie.
I also love the scene where Sheen wakes up to find the posted guard asleep, and the scene where they interrogate the village, which had some great tension.
