MLB Network is saying that everyone except Mitch Haniger, Edwin Diaz and Marco Gonzalez may have "marked down, must go" tags on them. You would think that this is a team that borderline playoff. The last WC in the AL is up for grabs. The Athletics will regress, Toronto might need a year to graft the newcomers onto the current roster and God knows what to make of Tampa. Past those three teams (and NY, Boston, Cleveland and Houston, of course), the AL sucks. And the longest playoff drought tag has to hurt (take it from a Bills fan). But the farm system is as barren as a rice paddy in Saudi Arabia. And the M's have some horrific contracts. I do believe that they should try to do something to sneak a WC this year. The window is closing. The AL does suck, but the Jays are a year away, the White Sox are moving in the right direction, Oakland could be back if they could keep a starting pitcher healthy and the worst is over in Detroit. Of course, Baltimore tired to try to remain competitive rather than rebuilding this season and that didn't go well.
Oh, that Robinson Cano contract...
