Was Robin Williams a good actor?

Hit and miss for me. I loved Mork and Mindy as a kid but some of his stuff just wasn't all that great. Dead Poet's Society and Good Will Hunting proved that he was an excellent actor but misses for me were films like the Birdcage, and License to Wed which were horrible.
