I always find it hilarious that people give the Sixers so much crap now for that Tatum trade. Hindsight is always 20/20. At the time, Fultz was pretty much the unanimous first pick and everyone said the Sixers made the smart move. Fultz, on paper at least, was exactly what the Sixers needed. I just feel he lacks maturity and is allergic to defense right now. I want him to work out. I really do, but he seems to be a player that needs the ball in his hands and looks like crap off the ball. I say trade him, our Miami first round pick, and maybe one other player for someone like Butler. Sure, I know Butler comes with his own set of issues, but he is exactly what Simmons and Embiid need right now. I do not want Love. He is hurt every other week and is far past his prime at this point. although it's intriguing - Butler can't get along with KAT and Wiggins and wants to be 'the man' I don't see him getting along with Embiid and Simmons whos personalities are far more polarizing than KAT/Wiggins -plus think of the assets you'd have to give up for a potential 'rental' who bolts (unless they got a deal worked in where he signs longterm) to me some players are the perfect 3rd piece - this was always Iggy to me - funny how years ago there were always Iggy for Love rumors - what did Iggy prove to be in time - a perfect 'piece'. Butler wants to be the man. We don't need that - we need that special complimentary piece to go along with Embiid/Simmons who isn't going to stir the pot and is fine with being 3rd banana and not the star. I just disagree. For the Sixers to compete for a championship, they need another star. Butler can be that guy. Looking at the free agent landscape next offseason, there is a good chance that the Sixers may not get anyone. Almost all the free agents seem to be going elsewhere. Thompson will stay with Golden State and he is who they need more than anyone. Bring Butler in and they can compete this season.
