Considering that this show came back after cancellation, you'd think that there would be so much eagerness to keep the stories going. I didn't like season 5 overall, but I did feel that eagerness. This season? It felt like they didn't know what else to do. I mean, really?
And I don't think it's the kind of story you tackle so late in a series. But OK, maybe this can lead to a compelling drama.
Ever since Connie Britton left, JULIET has been sharing co-protagonism with DEACON and arguably MADDIE... and for the final season you give her a far-fetched story that has nothing to do with music and that prevents her from interacting with other main characters?! Hell, most of this doesn't even take place in the city the show's named after! Speaking of, story arcs in final seasons shouldn't be as impersonal as SCARLETT's. I mean, it was more about SEAN than herself.
And for the love of God, what did they do to GUNNAR?! Not that he was my favorite character or anything but, even at his worst, I saw him simply as a flawed person. Now?!
Pretty much all the main characters have been unprofessional at some point, but this isn't just that! It's childish! I know the other band members are his friends so they wouldn't want to kick him out, but at least threaten him! This behavior is unacceptable!
This show does try to portray the music industry in a somewhat realistic way, right? As far as I know, diss tracks don't use real names. At least not if the artist has a record label.
Is there anything positive I got out of this season? Sure.
I liked this as a subversion of expectation and an aspect of music that I haven't seen explained before. Also, the performances were mostly still good (Charles Esten, Clare Bowen and Ronny Cox stood out), but this was the first season where not a single song stood out to me.
You're using the "She was raped as a child and repressed it" twist with JULIET? It's hard to buy that with a character who does remember other traumatic things from her childhood.

Nope, the character's main conflict of the season is joining a cult, escaping from it and then suing it. What?!

And then, out of nowhere, she has a man. I read that it's the actress' real-life husband. OK, but how does this make sense in-universe? At least make him her boyfriend, not her fiancée. That's how things end for this character? Marrying someone she's known for less than 3 months?

Leaving in the middle of a performance out of jealousy?!

And there were so many moments where AVERY could've used their love triangle with SCARLETT to point out GUNNAR's hypocrisy.
My issue with DEACON's dad arc is he didn't apologize until like the 3rd or 4th conversation, so why did he expect to be forgiven before that? And there was no real resolution the whole "You don't remember things the way they really happened."

So how did MIA (JONAH's ex) was able to release that song about MADDIE? And make a music video?

DAPHNE feared that ILSE would convince her to focus on her looks rather than her music (which would've been a cliché) but, instead, ILSE teaches her how to project the emotion of the song by just moving around the stage a little bit.
