I was a regular viewer, though I probably enjoyed it more as a late night 10 or 11 pm rerun than a Sunday night staple. As with many shows, the first 1-2 seasons & the latter 3-4 were kinda forgettable.
Probably the show's zenith was around the time Kelly was still being portrayed as a bimbo - she was stupid but intelligent if that makes sense, & I suppose the same goes for the entire family. Grandmaster B was probably the last fun character angle, before Al got way softened up with his No Ma'ams or whatever club.
It shocked because it would say things no other show or movie would even want to try. Their visual gags had some fun Super Dave Osborne payoffs.
