At this rate it wouldn't be a surprise if Aquaman outgrosses Batman vs Superman and Spider-man Into the Spider Verse outgrosses Spider-man Homecoming.

You never know what to expect anymore.

It’s not that surprising with inflation.

DOFP & Apocalypse count as X-Men films and came out in the same time period or afterwards so inflation has nothing to do with it, and if you adjust the older films for inflation they still don't crack $600m where as GOTG did closer to $800m.
