Here is my recap and analysis of Week 11’s games
Bears defeat Vikings 25-20. The Bears are having a very good season and are the definite frontrunners in the NFC North, Trubisky is playing very well, they have 2 good RB’s and their defense is one of the stronger D’s in the NFL, they are a fairly complete team and are likely playoff bound. The Vikings have been somewhat of a disappointment, their defense isn’t nearly as good as it was last season in any facet, they’ve struggled with both pass rush and pass defense and they need to become stronger on defense going forward as they have a ton of talented players but they just haven’t lived up to their potential.
Saints defeat Eagles 48-7. Dominating performance from the Saints, Brees with a fantastic game, he’s likely the MVP frontrunner, and the Saints have deep array of offensive talent and are excellent at both rushing and passing and they decimated the Eagles all around, and their defense has greatly improved and is playing very well, they have some talented guys at each position and can slow teams down, the Saints are playing better than any team in the NFL. The Eagles are in trouble, their defense has struggled badly, their secondary is weak, they don’t have a rushing game and it will be interesting to see what they do at QB going forward, but things aren’t looking good for them.
Cowboys defeat Falcons 22-19. The Cowboys are suddenly looking like the NFC East favorites, they are playing very well, they’ve finally shown they can win on the road, Zeke is a phenomenal RB, their defense is playing solid, their passing attack still could use some improvement IMO. The Falcons are pretty much eliminated from the playoff race, a boatload of injuries has derailed their season and prevented them from being a winning team despite their excellent offense.
Steelers defeat Jaguars 20-16. The Steelers are very hot and are playing very well, and they get the come from behind win after a terrible start, the Steelers are a top tier team with a lot of good players all around and will be a threat in the playoffs. The Jags have been the NFL’s biggest disappointment, their defense isn’t nearly as good as everyone expected and they’ve fallen drastically, and Bortles is a subpar QB who isn’t capable of being a franchise QB IMO, I really don’t know what the Jags do going forward.
Lions defeat Panthers 20-19. The Lions haven’t played up to their potential and aren’t in the playoff race but they pull off the nice upset of the Panthers, their defense played better and their offense was solid, however their strong RB Johnson was injured and could be out for a while, not good. Bad loss for the Panthers as they are in the deep NFC playoff race and needed the win, and Rivera made the odd call to go for 2 which I didn’t like, they should’ve kicked the XP and hoped to go to OT, the Panthers secondary remains a major concern and will cause them problems going forward IMO.
Colts defeat Titans 38-10. The Colts are very hot and have won 4 in a row, Luck is playing very well and he finally has a decent O-Line and the Colts have a few more weapons around him and a better defense, they are suddenly right in the AFC playoff picture. The Titans remain wildly inconsistent, too inconsistent to make the playoffs IMO and Mariota left the game with an injury, so I’m not sure how he’ll be going forward.
Texans defeat Redskins 23-21. Texans are playing very well, they are strong on both sides of the ball and have one of the NFL’s stronger defenses, they are underrated and will definitely be in the playoffs IMO. The Redskins lose Smith to a horrific injury, so their playoff chances have greatly dropped, it will be interesting to see what McCoy does going forward.
Ravens defeat Bengals 24-21. A nice first start for Lamar Jackson, and a big win for the Ravens who had slipped badly over the last few weeks, they are in the AFC playoff race and have a good defense so it will be interesting to see how they do down the stretch. The Bengals are in the playoff picture as well but they are wildly inconsistent all around, they need to play more solidly if they want to get a playoff slot.
Broncos defeat Chargers 23-22. Major upset, a very nice win for the Broncos, the Broncos have some talented players on both sides of the ball, I’m very impressed by their RB Lindsay, he’s having a nice rookie season, the Broncos need a franchise QB though. Bad loss at home for the Chargers, they should’ve won this game, they are quietly having a very nice season but they can’t slip up and lose games like this if they want to contend in the playoffs, their defense shit the bed badly at the end.
Giants defeat Buccaneers 38-35. The Giants have now won 2 in a row, their offense is playing well, Eli has looked sharp (I don’t know why people were talking about benching him) and Barkley had a great game, he’s an outstanding RB and the Giants need to use him more. The Bucs put up good numbers on offense once again but couldn’t win because of their atrocious defense and TO problems, which have plagued them all season.
Raiders defeat Cardinals 23-21. 2 teams that will get very high draft picks next season and are rebuilding, the Cardinals have their franchise QB IMO and just need to get more talent on both sides of the ball while the Raiders need a total rebuild IMO which is what they are doing.
Any comments?
