Bottom line: Once Snyder was out the whole movie should have been pushed back so that WHOEVER they got to take over had the proper amount of time. It even would've fixed the mustache problem.
Mission Impossible is notorious for fucking up super hero actors: Scott Dougray had been cast to star as Wolverine and he got pulled back to do re-shoots for MI2, so instead they had to recast with Hugh Jackman. Here Cavill agrees to return for re-shoots, but MIfallout wouldn't let him shave. And we all know how that turned out.
