help me decorate my first American Christmas. I wanna go all Martin Crane on it

this is the first year I am here (in the US) for Christmas. For all those previous years I would fly to visit my parents in Europe or travel. I tend to enjoy tacky things and am feeling quite American when it comes to decorations and would love to decorate my flat with xmas things that are typical for the US. I will openly admit I am on Martins side of things here.
But as you may have noticed I hate spending money and it takes me forever to chose what to spend it on, so what would you recommend I get next to a Christmas three, like 3-4 items?
Santa? Talking santa? Some of the deers? Some of his little helpers? Santas hat? Socks? Generic Christmas lights? Stars? If reindeers, which ones, or a whole set of them? Light projecting something christmasy on the wall? Canes? Christmas train?
Also, where would one go for affordable Christmas decorations?
All of this is for indoors, for one room. Dont be afraid to get tacky and kytchy with your tips.Thank you.
Ps - I am not religious so for me this is more about playing with the decorations and colors in my place and experiencing something new. I grew up in a family where we had the tree and then baby jesus in Bethlehem, its kinda dreary. I wanna go joyous and colorful!! And I am also getting a sexy santas helper outfit, that cant hurt. I love those.
