The casino sequence is interesting in exactly what it does wrong. In Revenge of the Sith, which treats its story seriously, they go to an opera, which is so strange, intriguing, and alien that we’re drawn in: we want to know what this is, how it operates, etc.
In this, the casino looks exactly like any other casino. The human characters don’t even dress all that much differently than people dress nowadays (which may just be a commentary on how folks dress nowadays!). There’s nothing interesting about it, especially as it’s not shot all that well.
By the way: how has Luke become this self-loathing? The previous writers at least understood Han Solo. Whoever wrote this has no idea who Luke Skywalker is.
