I didn't like either, but Homecoming is definitely better than Venom.
Venom is... I don't know. I guess isn't really Venom. The character is relly different from the one I knew and Ton Hardy, while an excellent actor, is not suited to play Eddie Brock.
The overall tone of both movies is light, but I found Venom really stupid at times, while Homecoming is generally better written, albeit a tad boring.
Also, the CGI in Venom is quite fake and distracting, while on average in Homecoming is way better.
I have the nagging feeling that Venom is a movie from an era when superhero movies didn't bother to respect the source material and probably would've been better served after the character's outing in a Spider-Man movie.
For the life of me, I can't understand the appeal of Venom (the movie), but TBH, lately I rarely do...
