Without a doubt IN A LONELY PLACE her keeper - a marvelous film - mature,gripping and incredibly moving....and she made a stunning partner for Bogart - also at his finest. SUDDEN FEAR probably her sleeper/next best - a cracking ladynoir - the sleeper smash of its year. I saw her on stage in THE GLASS MENAGERIE a year or so before she died and she was great. So much better than any screen Amanda Wingfield.
She was an extremely naughty girl in real life - probably why she was effective at it onscreen - and the biog and FILMS OF tomes well worth reading.
