I'd be pretty shocked if they included a player beyond Edwin Diaz. When it was first reported a few days ago as just the Mets wanting to trade Bruce for Cano so long as the Ms ate a big chunk of the delta in their contract values, I scratched my head. When it later was reported that, in addition to those two being involved, the Mets would get either Mitch Haniger OR Edwin Diaz and they'd include a prospect of theirs (of which they don't have many), it made a lot more sense. Yeah, the Ms are giving up a lot but really, in the abstract, they're trading Diaz away to get out of the last 3 years of Cano's deal (with Jay Bruce eating up the next 2 years). If they include another player in addition to that without getting another piece in return, than that's a pretty steep price. As a Met fan though, I love this deal! And yeah, I know Cano and his PEDs and all that, but the truth is that you wake him on christmas morning, he's gonna hit .295 and get on base at a .350 clip. I'll take that any day of the week and they can shift Jeff McNeil back to 3rd....and then just shoot Todd Frazier. If they land Edwin Diaz, it's a really good deal. Don't see anything about Haniger being included, it would be one or the other. They don't need to get rid of Cano at all. Yeah, they do. The contract is insane. he will have the Roid issue hanging over his head forever (see Braun, Ryan for example). And he's reported to be clubhouse cancer? Why did the Yankees make no effort to resign a middle IF who hit 27 HR, 107 RBI and .314? Why was the Mariners best 80 game stretch the 80 game stretch when Cano was at home playing with himself?
