So X-Men 1 was famous for its pure grounded and serious non colorful appearance. Batman followed the same pattern after the ill fated batman and robin. I notice both movies made jokes about the ridiculousness of costumes
Bruce: Guy dresses up as Bat, clearly has issues
Cyclops: what were you expecting. yellow spandex
Also just to mention the cinematography of both films. they sure dont look cartoonish. the dark to little colour looks was done on purpose.
Does anyone find it funny or ironic that of all the comic movie series. the two series that made jokes about how idiotic it is to were spandex and bat costumes ended making the best and most serious compelling comic books ever made? TDK. LOGAN, X2, DOFP, X-MEN 1, TDKR both for marvel and dc.
It just made think seeeing how MCU fans are so obsessed with costumes.
oh and these movie do have jokes, this stuff is a joke in the film does not mean the entire movie is a joke.

Out of the 3 videos I dont need to say which looks the most childish.
Like I said before: If you take what is going on in the movie seriously and act like it belongs, then the audience will take it seriously and act like it belongs. This is a world where there can fly around in a bright red cape and alien armor. Cap can run around in a bright blue suit. Spider-man swinging around in a red and blue/black suit. And no one will bat an eye. The audience will accept it because of that. They believe in that world. But when you have a movie where they call attention to how silly it is to wear yellow spandex (none of them wore spandex in any of these 3 movies) then the audience will be taken out of it when they characters where restrictive leather with yellow piping. And Bruce was distancing himself from Batman by saying that wearing the Batman costume makes the person insane. He was playing to the crowd in movie. Not making a commentary about how wearing the costume is stupid. Only in the X-men movie do they say it as a joke and then wink at the crowd.
Also...
This shows you how bad making the X-men uniforms like that are. Also, remember that they had to totally redo Batman's costume for TDK because of how restrictive it was. And they say so in the movie.
