What are your thoughts on people who wear crucifix necklaces?

One of my friends wears a crucifix, because he got it from his grandmother and its means a lot to him. Another friend of mine wears a star of david out of respect for his family history. Both are atheist.
So yeah, not everyone that wears it, is religious.
I do think that most who wear it are religious.
