oh brother where art thou…?
and the prequels were assembly line made, and it shows.
"There are many visually beautiful scenes in the prequels and a huge amount of imagination" I agree (to a certain degree), but I attribute that more to the fact that he had the best and biggest SFX house in history working on the movies, ILM, which he owned.
I think people that want to give him MORE credit than he actually deserves are the who are misguided.
he truth is he was always more interested in technology (ILM, THX, Pixar, Lucasarts, etc.) than in actual filmmaking.
As visually stunning as those movies can be sometimes everything just feels wooden. It's like they put events in line one after the other without any consideration of story, character development, performance, or pace. The prequels just feel... awkward. We may not like what we got from TLJ, but we cant deny that it was a fairly well made movie.
The most divisive SW movies are the prequels - all directed by Lucas (if you call that directing; I call it pointing the camera). The man hasn't "really" directed since SW:ANH!
Ok...I finally ran out of facepalm gifs to comment on lenlen's ramblings.
