" Lucas creating something like this when he made the first Star Wars ( or right after ) " Yes that's Ralph McQuarrie concept art of the Emperor's Lava Cave Beneath Vader's Castle on Mustafar for early thoughts on Return of the Jedi. Oh and that thought, a dark cave below structures like Vader's Castle, the Jedi Temple on Coruscant (in the book Tarkin), and the cave below the First Jedi Temple on Ahch-To, along with the Kyber mines below Jedi Temples for the construction of the Death Star, is a recurring theme of hidden places below these structures. And it all goes back to original McQuarrie artwork and Lucas ideas. |
