Well, why argue with them? And why be so vitriolic about it? Sure some respond with hostility, but if you have a special gift...an ability to discern and perceive the supernatural, why not be happy about it, rather than argumentative with those who, for whatever reason, don't share those concepts and just "don't get it"? At the least, as I mentioned before, why not rejoice in your special insight? Treat the "sightless" with patience and forebearance...not anger and condescension.
Not every atheist "disdains" religion and spirituality. I certainly don't and I consider myself an atheist...(not sure why the rest of this is in blue, I didn't mean for it to be) . I find the whole idea of people believing in God, gods, demons and angels, ghosts, the supernatural and all those beliefs might entail entirely fascinating. Why do people who've grown up in similar...or almost identical, surroundings end up believing so totally differently? I'm speaking of close friends and relatives here, not just two people who happen to live in the country or community. It certainly isn't intelligence or education that makes the difference as some of the most intelligent and knowledgeable people I've encountered/know are solid Christians. My siblings, all of whom I love and respect and talk to regularly, have retained their basic beliefs in God and Christianity while I, for whatever reason left it decades ago and have not found a reason to return to it. I don't begrudge them (or anyone else) their beliefs nor challenge them. Oh, I'll discuss things with them, but I never press issues or try to persuade them. I'm happy they're happy. I don't think they're always happy with me NOT sharing their beliefs, but I can't help that.
Have you ever posed that question to any number of atheists who do nothing but ridicule and deride others?
I'm simply giving what they've been dishing out here for some time.
No. Do you think it'd be an interesting discussion?
"I'm simply giving what they've been dishing out here for some time."
I understand, my comment wasn't a criticism.
