once directed movies like An Ice Cold in Alex and The Guns of Navarone, was doing thuds like this in the 1980s, destroying his director CV.

I actually like a lot of J. Lee Thompson's films from the 1980s, including several he made with Bronson. And 'Happy Birthday To Me' (1981) is one of my favourite slashers. For some old school Thompson, I like 'Cape Fear' (1962) and 'Eye Of The Devil' (1966).
