Well, we got the series final of 12 Monkeys here on Friday.
The two episodes from last week had some good parts to them...
As for the series final…
Anyway, this is one show that I’m pretty certain I’ll be getting the complete series boxset of (when/if it’s ever actually released here, that is). It would definitely be worth rewatching. Kudos to the show creators, cast and everyone involved in making this series for keeping its quality consistently excellent throughout its four season run. Not many shows seem to be able to manage that and oftentimes go out with a whimper, but this one went out whilst still on top. Well done, show.

Jennifer making fun of Olivia was always good for a laugh.

I liked Jennifer reaction to seeing Ramse again and her filling him in on the connection between Cole and Jones.

Also amusing was Cole having a “plan” and Cassie’s reaction to it.

I liked that they had we got a proposal scene between them too.

The most unexpected moment, though, was the use of '(I've Had) The Time Of My Life’ as Cole and Ramse drove towards what they thought was certain death. I can’t blame Ramse for wanting to die to a good song. It was quite ridiculous…but this show has always handled the ridiculous moments well and kept them from devolving into pure farce/parody.

I do wish we’d gotten both parts of ‘The Beginning’ together rather than separate, one last week and the other this week. It did feel like this last episode was pretty much just the climax and tying things up. However, I can’t really complain about how they tied things up and seemingly gave everyone a happy ending...except for Olivia, of course. Speaking of, I was so glad Cassie got to be the one to end her (plus, I’d been waiting since the show began for someone to use that blue light beam when splintering as a weapon and sticking someone into it partially, thereby chopping off their other parts...which is pretty much what we got) and it was great!

There were certainly some callbacks to things characters had said earlier in the series.

Both of those^ exchanges were echoed in the final (and I agreed with Cole saying that Jennifer was the best of them – I was also glad he got a final scene/hug with her, as I always enjoyed their relationship. He was often annoyed with her early in the series, but by the end I felt they were true friends/truly cared for each other. I was just a little sad Jennifer and Cassie didn’t get a last hug. Nor did we get to hear Jennifer call Jones ‘Jonesy’ one last time...unless I missed it).
Yes, everything seemed to wrap up more or less nice and neatly, but given all the crap these characters had been put through, I was totally fine with them getting some semblance of a ‘happily ever...now’ (to quote Cole).

You were right with what you predicted, @deblovesbeccy , I was indeed happy with the ending we got. I had seen in posts of your some time ago the part with Jennifer and the unicorn, and since then was wondering when that’d come up. Turns out it was in the final. Of course Jennifer bioengineers a unicorn – and that’s why she’s awesome (especially amusing was the part about ‘Scientific community asks “Why?”’ – silly scientific community! The question should be “Why NOT bioengineer a unicorn?”).
