What a sad day. She was an excellent actress and a break-out woman director who made some fine films.
From "Variety": Marshall was the first woman to direct a film that grossed more than $100 million (BIG), the first woman to direct two films that made more than $100 million (A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN), and she was only the second woman director to see her film Oscar-nominated for best picture (AWAKENINGS)." (The first was Randa Haines' THE CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD.)
Her works will be remembered.
