Doctor Strange with an 89%? It was a good movie and all but an 89% good?
Aquaman only has a 68% at the moment, it's good solid movie and that's about it. So was Guardians of the Galaxy 2 though but that has a 83%.
Thor Dark World itself has a 66% and that wasn't as good as Aquaman at all. Man of Steel that released the same year has a 58% and I thought that was much better.
So yeah I don't know how Aquaman can get a 68% but then Ant-man gets an 82%, Iron Man 2 gets a 73% and Captain America gets an 80% because I'd say Aquaman was better than all those.
I would have to guess that there still remains a deep stigma against the DCEU that remains entrenched among critics. Meanwhile the MCU has this stuff down to a science so well that it's probably easy to say "Oh yea it's good. Go see it." Like clockwork. Meanwhile, even though Aquaman is getting generally positive reviews, the enthusiasm is comparatively more lukewarm due to that stigma and the DCEU still trying to find its footing in light of all the shakeups behind-the-scenes. Perhaps that bled into reviews that cite the messy storytelling. Or maybe sometimes a few critics are just being dicks as thisguy4000 shared.
In comparison, every single DCEU movie I've seen sans Wonder Woman have had this disjointed feel. Like I was flitting from scene to scene instead of flowing through them. Then there are long stretches where nothing of note happens and then other times it's pure action that seems to drag a bit too long.
