I've only ever seen one movie of hers, My Favorite Wife (1940) with Randolph Scott and Cary Grant. She was pretty great in it though, sparring nicely with her leading men. Several attempts at seeing The Awful Truth (1937) never seem to actually happen for me. Someday! I do have Penny Serenade (1941) recorded from TCM to see at some point. She and Cary Grant must have been good pals, they've appeared in all three movies I've mentioned here. Lebowskidoo-- In a way, I envy you. You have a lot of WONDERFUL movies you will still see for the first time!!
She was GREAT and prolific. She could do both comedy and drama equally well. Almost all of her movies are tops with me. I think I first saw her on the "big screen" was in Never a Dull Moment at a drive-in in the early 50s. Natalie Wood was only about 10 years old when she made that movie with Irene Dunne and she was still quite good. I do feel like I've stumbled upon a treasure trove whenever I discover some classics I'd missed out on until now, this is one of those times, look forward to digging deeper into her movies soon.
