MLB and NFL are who decide what is and isn’t legitimate, not us. It’s like flags in Football. If the ref throws a flag for offensive holding, he committed offensive holding. It doesn’t matter if it looks like he didn’t, it doesn’t matter what the rulebooo states is defined as holding, the ref is the one who decides. I’m no Pats fan, but the NFL decided Brady’s actions were legitimate. 1st, no refs don't decide the rules. The rulebook defines the rules. Sometimes a player commits offensive holding and doesn't get flagged. That doesn't mean he didn't commit offensive holding. That just means the refs missed the call. 2nd, the NFL decided Brady's actions weren't legitimate. That's why Brady was suspended for 4 games and the Patriots were fined $1 million and had draft picks taken away. The NFL didn't take the titles away just like MLB didn't take the home run records away, but everyone knows Brady's championships are as tainted by cheating as the MLB home run records re tainted by steroids use. You perceive the rule book to define the rule, but that’s a naive way to look at it. The refs define the rule. They decide who is and isn’t holding. The rulebook trained them, but they’re the real rulebook. Sure they’ll get flak for not following it, but they still are the ultimate force to decide what is and isn’t holding. NFL decided Brady committed an act worth suspending... but not retracting the win/title. It was bad, but not that bad is their judgement. Tainted like terroir baseball records in your eyes, but they’re perfectly fine with letting it go. NFL says brady’s Actions deserve a medium suspension but is otherwise acceptable. If it wasn’t, they wouldn’t have accepted it.
