Disney has good background checks, how could this happen? Next thing we know they employed Harvey Weinstein. They hired James Gunn,i m not bashing him btw i m saying its weird they decided he didn't meet their standards this year despite publicly talking about his tweets years prior. Shane Black hired a convicted sex offender in his predator film. James Gunn had apologized for his tweets and blog postings years ago before he was even hired to write/direct Guardians of the Galaxy, he was let go from Vol. 3 not because they didn't know of his history of questionable humor over the years per se but because the controversy was too great a risk to continue like it was business as usual. Disney wants to project the image of clean family entertainment, they do not want controversy surrounding them that would tarnish that reputation which is why in the end it matters not if he was joking, they cannot risk the loss in faith from the average consumer. |
