You don't yet know what is intended or wanted. Plenty of crazy theories end up being right.

They’ve talked at length about Banner’s struggle with hulk and how what we saw in IW will he’ll leads to what the two do in EG, only for him not to show up in in IW? Every interaction was faked? That’s not good storytelling. I know there will he twists, but there’s no chance they’ll just gut people with something ridiculous like that. This ain’t Last Jedi.
