I'm glad the taint of a sequel doesn't really fuck up it's predecessor in actuality. If so then X3, Origins would fuck up X1 and X2 and Apocalypse would tarnish First Class and DoFP. Also Spiderman 3 would taint Spiderman 1 and 2. The retcon of Uncle Ben's death in Spiderman 3 does sort of tarnish that part of Spiderman 1, but luckily I can just pretend Spiderman 3 never happened. Actually, it kinda does ... or at least it takes some effort to compartmentalize the awful sequels. It’s hard to think about the Christopher Reeve Superman without this iconic image popping into your head.  It can be hard but not impossible. The hardest scene in Superman 3 for me to forget was this scene. I think I was 7 when I saw it and it scared the fuck out of me for some reason. As an adult it seems like nothing, but as a kid terrifying. Luckily around 8-10 I got into Horror movies and I had an adult membership at the local mom and pop shop. I got over being scared at movies real quick. |
