It isn't critically thriving and I'm not sure how you can say the universe as a whole is thriving when it doesn't even have it's two most important characters in place.  The last two DCEU movies are certified fresh. And more importantly, have great audience scores. As for Superman and Batman, the people have spoken. We don't want the old. We want new and fresh. Superman and Batman can take a long break. The DCEU is doing great without them. Justice League was "Fresh"? Who knew??!? You'd better ring WB and tell them about that one.  
BTW, a red tomato isn't the same as "Certified Fresh." Aquaman isn't "Certified Fresh" yet either. 
"Audience scores," count for nothing. They are easily manipulated. The only relevant "audience score" is the box office results. And even then, that sometimes don't tell the whole story.
