that's an old hat, and a nitpick. It's a contrivance for sure to make the concept of their team up work. But why not say Martha? I refer to my mother with her first name when speaking about her to known strangers, such as uncle or aunt. I'm certainly not an child saying "my mom" (cringe), it's too childish. DCEU should not be childish IMO. Also, " I don't care, he killed my mom" and " You should not have killed my mom...or squished my Walkman" are already taken by MCU. So to each franchise it's own. Because it’s not uncommon, as proven by the fact they both have mothers named Martha? Imagine if someone asked you to save Todd. What would be your first move? Saying, “Who the F is Todd?” But if he says save Martha Kent, it kills the scene because Batman doesn’t consider him speaking about his own mother. It’s just something we accept that it happened and we move on. Like bat nipples. I've already coceded above (and since ever) that the execution is cringeworthy and juvenile. Middle aged men fighting bc of mommy issues should be legally forbidden in movies. Still, I like the basic idea of these characters resolving their philosophical differences by finding their common ground of saving the ones they love. Also, it sends BM on his path of redemption. Bat nipples were the biggest crime against good taste since sensitive MCU nipples and raccoon turds. In a perfect world all these abominations would lie forgotten in the dustbin of CBM history. And they will some day.
