A point that appears to have escaped a number of DCU fans. The vision which they lauded and hailed as superior to all others because of it's dark, gritty tone and po-faced, thematic undercurrents, has been completely discarded is favor of an attempt to copy the MCU. Instead of deriding this new vision as you may expect, given their previous stance on the subject, staunch DCU fans are now circle-jerking about the financial success of Aquaman as though their point of view has finally been vindicated by general audiences. Nothing could be further from the truth. (Please note - the above paragraph isn't referring to any objective, reasonable minded, DC fans).
But see, the problem with your thought process is that its a no win proposition.
If we stay with the dark and gritty... the movies suck.
If we discard that and imitate MCU... then the movies still suck. It’s pretty telling that you didn’t even consider a third alternative - They could make a good dark and gritty superhero movie. People hate DCEU movies because they mostly suck. There is nothing irrational about that. Neither of those movies is DCEU ... so you’ve left us with a good chuckle!
