I attend more classical concerts than any other. The worst concert was by a group that plays in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts, mostly music of Bach and other baroque composers.
We heard Bach's concerto for two violins and one soloist was not up to par, being out of tune much of the time. The other soloist glared at her during the concert.
Classical music has such a small audience and there's so much competition for it that most performing musicians are technically competent, even if they're not world famous. The other soloist probably felt tainted to be associated with a bad musician. (Why wasn't this obvious from rehearsals?)
Ever since, we feel cautious buying tickets for smaller local groups so that we aren't "Berkshire Bached" again.
