I went on the quest because there was an IMDb thread about "A Christmas Carol" and some posters, whose opinions I respect, had a lot to say about each of the films. I went to see for myself and found that I agreed with some and with others, not so much.
The radio version with Lionel Barrymore was a yearly event at my house followed by the Sim movie once we got a television set.
If you ever get the urge for other interpretations and treatments, I would suggest starting with Scott and Hicks and then maybe just for fun the silents and the Rathbone and ....
