I disagree certainly with Monster but also with Batman. Warner Bros went to Prince as a WB artist and asked him for some songs for their film. He provided some kooky, far-out music well suited to the film. He knew exactly what he was doing. Not my favourite Prince record by quite a bit but to say he lost the plot is pure rubbish. Huge sales don't necessarily mean everyone is going to like the product but to go multi-platinum ain't bad for someone who lost the plot.
