But I have a question about the ending of Rocky II. I know virtually nothing about real boxing, never really followed it, but in that final round, Rocky clearly knocks Apollo down but then he himself falls down from his own momentum, Apollo never actually touches him on that final swing, but the ref seems to be counting them both as being "down" for the purposes of declaring the winner or it resulting in a double knockout/draw/victory for Apollo on points. I thought if you trip and fall it doesn't count as a knock down. In other words, if Rocky were still down when the ref got to 10, wouldn't he still be the victor over Apollo given that Apollo didn't knock him down?
I'm certainly no expert, but I would guess it might still count. A slip is certainly not considered a knockdown, but if he was unable to get up and continue fighting, I would think they'd still give him a 10 count and count him out if he couldn't stand up.
