If that is the going rate, I don’t any reason that the Phillies wouldn’t sign both him and Harper instead of either or. At that price there should be a dozens teams involved in the bidding. The Phils tried building from within - like back in the days of Howard, Hamels, Rollins and Utley. Then the 'Stros and Royals did it to success at a point (Royals fell off) - i.e. build from the farm. The Phils tried it again and showed years of patience. I'm sorry - JP sucked - Kingery as much as I think it was Kaplers fault for using him as a Swiss Army knife and not getting him accustomed to 2nd all the time (was supposed to be Utley v2.0) - for Christ Sakes he even used him as a pitcher last year (and I'm pretty much the only Kapler fan on the planet it seems - not hating on him), Alfaro to me although while being a good defensive catcher - his power #s were abysmal after he was supposed to have some pop in his bat after being called up - well - if you're not going to hit for power at least hit for average - which he didn't. Franco has been up and down and more often than not down after he was supposed to be the cornerstone of the rebuild. Herrera is a complete enigma to me - who seems as if he can challenge for the batting crown - but then makes some of the laziest bone head mistakes which lands him in the doghouse all the time.........Hamels trade acquisitions have disappointed to an extent - Williams seems like a 4th outfielder at best............ Screw the rebuild - it failed. Now they have coin. Buy Buy Buy. People say this town bleeds green. I'm in the minority. Debatable in my eyes. Never saw a frenzy here like 2007-2011 and that includes the Reid/McNabb NFC Championship Games and Super Bowl last year. Ever go to a Phils game(s) in the summer when they're on top of the world and get hyped for those playoff/World Series Games? Greatest atmosphere I've ever been to.
